Toppan to unveil BOPP-based GL-SP barrier film for sustainable packaging in India

GL-SP joins the Toppan’s GL BARRIER series, known for its transparent vapour-deposited barrier films. It is tailored to meet the growing demand for sustainable packaging solutions. Its unique composition ensures high oxygen and water vapour barrier performance, making it a choice for packaging dry contents.

Unlike conventional processes, Toppan and TSF are taking a holistic approach by integrating the production of both the base film and the barrier film. This streamlined process promises stable quality control and significant reductions in product development timelines and costs.

GL-SP's BOPP substrate enables mono-material packaging, aligning with the global push for enhanced recyclability. With outstanding barrier performance equivalent to vapour-deposited PET, GL-SP ensures product freshness while offering high transparency for improved visibility and packaging design versatility.

With sales and sample shipments slated for April, Toppan's focus markets include India, the ASEAN region, and North America and Europe. These regions, characterised by a growing interest in sustainable practices, are poised to embrace GL-SP's innovative approach to packaging.
