Ghodawat Consumer Limited (GCL), the FMCG arm of Sanjay Ghodawat Group, has unveiled new packaging for its Star Rice range. In the latest form of packaging, the company uses Swiss technology to sort grains by size, shape, and texture.
The new five-kilogram packs come in three varieties—Star Jeera Rice, Star Sona Masoori, and Star Lachkari Kolam.
According to the press release, each batch passes quality checks to maintain taste, texture, and aroma, making it suitable for daily meals and special occasions. A fully automated, contactless system is used to maintain hygiene and consistency while removing the risk of adulteration. The packaging also makes storage and pouring easier.
The sealed packaging also keeps it free from contamination, and the sorting process selects only the best grains. Salloni Ghodawat, CEO of GCL, stated, “For generations, rice has been the backbone of Indian meals that was purchased in open sacks from local stores. While familiar, this practice came with hidden risks: exposure to dust, insects, rodents, and adulteration. But in an era where health and hygiene matter more than ever, packed rice is no longer a luxury; it’s a smarter and safer choice. Our focus has always been on delivering staples that people can rely on. This revamp is not just about packaging; it's about reimagining how a daily product like rice reaches households with more care, more clarity, and more confidence. We believe staples can be simple yet smart, traditional yet future-ready.”
GCL plans to grow its presence in tier-3 to tier-6 markets through wider distribution and locally relevant products. Its goal is to achieve an INR 5,000-crore revenue within five years.
