ReCircle’s flagship and popular consumer-driven initiative, Diwali Waste Collection Drive is back, from October 14-27, 2024, to collect a staggering 40,000 kgs of waste (equivalent to 14 lakhs chips packets) diverting it from landfills and water bodies back into the economy, thus ensuring complete traceability and transparency.

ReCircle’s evolution from a platform for scrap dealers to a clean-tech startup enabling businesses and consumers to stop plastic pollution, and more recently adopt textile waste recovery practices underscores the brand’s vision of taking action to achieve circularity.

Over the past three editions, ReCircle has consistently doubled its environmental and social impact. Starting with approximately 5000 kgs in 2021, the company reached 10,000 kgs in 2022, and 20,000 kgs in 2023. Last Diwali, through the hard work and dedication of our team, and the collective spirit of Mumbai, ReCircle met its goal by collecting 20,369 kgs. This festive season, ReCircle is, once again redefining the narrative around waste.

With the help of more than 150 vehicles, 3000 gunny bags, approximately 150 volunteers and 150 workers, ReCircle aims to collect all types of dry waste include paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, glass, e-waste, clothing, footwear and utensils.

Individuals, households, societies, gymkhanas, clubs, schools, colleges, offices, and collaborative spaces can participate by signing up for a free door-to-door pick-up. Once registered, individuals and institutions will get a confirmation call confirming the pickup date, time and address.

“This year our mission is even more ambitious — to divert a staggering 40,000 kgs of waste and we believe in the power of community towards circularity to make this happen. Consumers are eager to incorporate sustainability and change their consumption habits. Which is why we believe every sign-up will have a significant impact in creating a cleaner Mumbai. With the drive, we can together recycle our #PuranaSamaan and keep it all out of landfills and oceans," said Rahul Nainani, CEO and co-founder, ReCircle.

Gurashish Singh Sahni, COO and co-founder, ReCircle said, “The collected waste will be segregated by ReCircle’s informal waste workers or Safai Saathis at our Material Recovery Facility (MRF), Dahisar, Mumbai, where it will be cleaned, processed and bailed. This processed waste will then be sent out to recyclers who convert it into granules. The granules are then converted to new products.”

Formed in partnership with Dabur India, all the proceeds from individual households, societies, schools, colleges and offices of #PuranaSamaan will be donated to ReCircle’s partner NGO for the last four years, St. Catherine School of Siena and Orphanage. The non-profit aims to provide a safe space for underprivileged children and empower them through education and rehabilitation-based projects. The flagship initiative in Mumbai transforms waste into something truly valuable for those in need. By diverting waste with ReCircle, people are not just decluttering their space—they’re contributing to a brighter future for underprivileged children. Together, it's possible to turn waste into a treasure that makes a real difference.

Headquartered in Mumbai, ReCircle is driven by a singular mission: to accelerate the world's transition to a circular economy. To achieve this mission, the company has instituted flagship initiatives such as ClimaOne, Plastic EPR Service, Plastic-Neutral programs and Project Extra Life to further their goal. Its tech-enabled platform, ClimaOne, addresses existing challenges in the ecosystem by building a unified, transparent platform that provides real-time tracking backed by data analytics and simplifies reporting and compliance.

ReCircle has diverted over 169,000 MT (equivalent to the weight of 28,166 elephants) of waste from landfills and water bodies across 270 cities and towns in India with the help of 45+ processing partners who have a pan-India network of 400 collection partners all while impacting the lives of over 3100 informal waste workers or Safai Saathis. ReCircle has enabled 60+ progressive brands including HUL, UNDP  India, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages, etc. to achieve their sustainability goals.
