Product Watch: Kodak’s Prinergy 11.0

Kodak Prinergy 11.0 offers direct connectivity to Kodak prosper Presses which has been designed to support digital and print production. The product features enhancements to Rules-Based Automation (RBA), improved usability for Virtual Proofing Software Plus (VPS+) and seamlessly imports harmony calibration curves into Kodak's colourflow software.

Prinergy is used to print all forms of sizes of goods and applications. It can be used for books, publications, digital and packaging printers and is compatible with offset, flexo, gravure and digital printing and almost all third party software and equipment.

“Rules-Based Automaton (RBA) is at the center of what makes Prinergy unique. RBA automatically processes repetitive tasks based on predefined rules, reducing manual intervention. Prinergy’s core features enable printers to create and edit jobs, refine input files into pages (preflight, optimise, trap), assign pages to page sets and impositions, proof pages and impositions, output to plates or a digital press, monitor job activity and status, and archive job files,” said Bhalchandra Nikumb, sales director, India. The software minimises labour expenses and decreases costs arising from errors.

Preflight+ automatically verifies incoming files against selected preflight profiles, correcting and reporting errors based on industry standards or predefined user-based criteria. Additionally, when integrated with Rules-Based Automation, Preflight+ can automatically alert the job owner that file optimisation is needed to address a critical issue.

Kodak’s Prinergy Colorflow Software is a color management application that is integrated with Prinergy to improve color quality and consistency and control color output across all devices in a print production workflow. Prinergy Colorflow Pro is an optional upgrade that supports extended gamut for printers that follow key color standards. When paired with Color Services, printers can use the colour standards effectively across multiple presses, while saving up to 30% on ink usage and associated costs.

The software integrates with existing printing systems and RIPs via open standard file formats such as optimised PDF and TIFF. Integration with JDF-enabled MIS/ERP systems can be implemented via the Kodak Prinergy Business Link software. 

Prinergy also offers a range of training and onboarding options, which can be customised to suit individual needs.
