The Pentawards, dedicated to recognising global packaging design, launched its 19th annual competition introducing an improved feedback system and announcing the addition of Somdutt Sarkar, design leader at Procter & Gamble India, and Mayuri Nikumbh, head of design at the Conran Design Group to their jury for the 2025 edition.

This year's jury, comprising 55 design experts from 20 countries, will play a critical role in the new feedback feature. Jury-led, personalised, written feedback will now be provided in the first phase of judging enabling entrants to understand what they could have done differently or where they might have been able to improve their designs or entry.

Exclusive to non-shortlisted entries for 2025, the new feature is set to extend to winning and shortlisted entries soon, becoming part of the standard feedback system alongside the existing Pentawards Excellence Score that helps entrants identify areas of improvement and success via a numerical scoring system.

Head of Pentawards, Adam Ryan, said, “Over the past 18 years we have built an incredible network of global design experts and we are delighted to welcome Somdatt and Mayuri to this year's Jury, adding to the brilliant talent and expertise we continue to see coming from India.’ On the new feedback feature, he added, ‘We know that entering our competition takes time and effort so we wanted to enhance our feedback system to not only share how each entrant may improve and develop but also tap into the exceptional expertise that our jury offers.”

Previous Pentawards winners from India include OPEN Strategy & Design with Unsaid Library Luxury Gift Packaging (Silver: Luxury garments and accessories, 2021), NH1 Design with Don’t Hide It. Period. (Silver: Healthcare, 2019), and Sol Benito with Emper - Tool Box (Silver: Beauty, 2016).

Founded in 2007, the Pentawards competition recognises the best in global packaging design, with entries judged by a line-up of over 50 experts from brands and agencies like Estée Lauder, Microsoft, Pentagram and Puma.

Now in its 19th year, the Pentawards competition has received more than 36,000 entries from over 95 countries globally since its launch. Winners are celebrated at an exclusive annual Gala Ceremony and are featured in The Package Design Book, a staple for any packaging designer.
