Paper industry experts convene for IPPTA's 59th AGM and seminar
Packed house with over 375 delegates registered. This emphasises the recognition of Indian Pulp & Paper Technical Association's (IPPTA) agenda, as it hosted its 59th AGM and seminar from 23 to 24 February 2024 at Taj Hotel, City Centre, New Town, Rajarhat, Kolkata. The program saw paper industry stalwarts take on the challenges and solutions for an energy efficient pulp and paper industry.

The show began with the welcome address by Vivek Chawla, programme chairman, and director and CEO at Emami Paper Mills. Followed by a brief by MK Goyal, honorary secretary, IPPTA on the seminar outline, sessions that were lined up for two days in a row.
KS Venkatagiri, executive director, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) established the underlying theme of the conference: to build and promote energy efficient practices in the pulp and paper industry.
IPPTA president (and operations director at SPB Erode) Ganesh Bhadti addressed the delegates, and highlighted IPPTA's mission and vision for the upcoming year.
IPPTA invited Manindra Agrawal, IIT Kanpur as the chief guest and Ashwin Laddha, MD and CEO, Orient Paper & Industries was the guest of honour. Agrawal delivered the inaugural address. Also, the seminar witnessed the launch of the IPPTA journal.
Four technical sessions transpired on both days, three on day one and one on day two. With a common goal, to stay at the forefront of sustainable practices in the pulp and paper industry, industry stalwarts shared their insights on adapting sustainable practices in the pulp and paper industry.
A new executive committee was announced for 2024-2026, followed by vote of thanks by IPPTA’s MK Goyal. The focus of IPPTA continues to emphasise the need to develop a comprehensive and collaborative approach to meet the agenda of the AGM, which is fostering the future of energy and the environment in the pulp and paper industry.
By transitioning to renewable energy, improving energy efficiency, addressing water usage and pollution, and promoting sustainable sourcing, the industry can contribute to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future.
