PackMach Asia 2024 kicks off
On the day one of PackMach Asia Expo 2024, being held at Bombay Exhibition Center from 23 to 25 October, discussion on topics such as sowing seeds of adoption for aseptic packaging, food packaging, labelling and advertising in the age of social media and eco-friendly, sustainable packaging were organised.

Day one of the Pack Mach Asia Expo 2024 co-hosted with IPMMI, witnessed palpable energy among attendees and exhibitors.
Mahadevan Iyer, president of IPMMI, said, "The idea is to create an innovative mindset at the expo to foster meaningful conversations and connections." This is the motto of IPMMI and fosters education, training, and fraternising.
The first panel discussion of the day, moderated by Ainain Shahidi answered the question of what is needed to ensure sustainability and viability for manufacturers. Sitanshu Bag, AVP- head packaging operation and project at Emami pointed out the importance of design and circularity of the packaging.
Whereas Pasumarti Srinivas a technical consultant shared the importance of new materials and processes. He said “For a packet of gutka that uses metallised films and plastics, a simple alternative that we used was a wax coated paper and it worked well for the product. Exploring new alternatives is equally important.”
Concluding on the similar note, Nishanth Sukumar, deputy general manager, CavinKare said “It is important for us to optimise machines when it comes to sustainability for manufacturers. Mechanical upgradation results in production efficiency, in turn helps the profitability of any product.
