Women borrowers increased 15% CAGR in the past five years
Pack-Man celebrated 8 March with gusto.
But it was not all fun and frolic, Pack-Man also spotted data by TransUnion CIBIL, India. The data said there is a 15% CAGR increase in the number of women borrowers in the country. Rajasthan, Bihar and West Bengal have witnessed a gradual increase in the span of last five years
Tamil Nadu observed 9.17 million women borrowers. This shows how the gender is making an effort to progress.
More power to women!
Marico wins ET Awards 2022
Meanwhile Marico bagged the ET Award 2022 under the Citizen of the Year category. Pack-Man found out that the company was recognised for its water preservation, efforts to boost productivity of coconut farmers and startup mentorship programmes to promote innovation.
In an interview with a business daily, Harsh Mariwala, chairman, Marico said “ Marico did not wait for the CSR spending regulation to start making an impact.”
PAck-Man says he likes such kind of CSR swag.
Britannia targets 50% women workforce by 2024 end
Meanwhile Pack-Man was told that Britannia Industries will increase its women workforce from 41% to 50% by 2024.
That’s staggering stuff.
So, out of Britannia’s 1,00,000 people workforce, 41% of its employees are women. The company owns 15 manufacturing plants and 35 franchisee units across India. A Britannia spokesperson told Pack-Man, “The company has about 1,400 workers at its Madurai plant, out of which 65% are women.
There is more.
The women employees in the plant produced 190 tonnes of various food products per day and therefore, the employee number will be increased to 70% by 2024.
Packaged tea consumption under pressure
Pack-Man loves tea.
Unfortunately, the inflation across consumption has caused tea prices to rise. This has resulted in less consumption of the packaged tea and it is forcing the consumers to downtrade. Data shows that the packaged tea grew 4% in terms of value and volume, in 2022 as compared to 2021. Milk prices have also increased, which impacted the team consumption market.
As most tea consumers prefer tea with milk, the consumption of tea with milk has been impacted with rising milk and tea prices.
Coffee anyone?
Bridging the gender gap, structuring the framework
According to a sample study of 134 companies by CFA institute, only one woman for every eight on payroll. Pack-Man crunched the data. And the data says: The participation rate of females averages around 12.7%; key management personnels in 69% do not comprise women.
Women had comparatively greater turnover than men (18.3% over 16.1%). The firms must improve disclosures, particularly related to median remuneration. Senior management must incorporate improvement in diversity for talent acquisition; track talent development pipelines.
