While announcing the line-up of speakers at the upcoming LMAI Conference in Jaipur, Rajesh Nema, president of the Label Manufacturers Association of India, emphasised the importance of reflecting on the values that define the label industry as an association.

The LMAI Conference 2023 will feature keynote speakers from Avery Dennison, Vinsak, SMI, Heidelberg-Gallus, Flint, Domino, and HP Indigo. These experts will share their insights on the three crucial components of a thriving label industry: creativity, innovation, and sustainability.

Brands, labellers, and packagers must focus on consumers' needs and trends to improve their services, solutions, or activities. By understanding what consumers want and applying it to their products, they can increase their ability to sell. Nema said, "As label manufacturers, we know the importance of constantly evolving and adapting to new challenges and opportunities - whether developing new technology or pushing the boundary for designing, we must continue to innovate to stay relevant in a rapidly changing market."

Consumers noticeably shift towards sustainable choices as climate tipping points are being reached. "In parts of India, floods occur while others face water scarcity. It is our responsibility to be mindful of the environmental impact. Sustainability is not just a buzzword. It's a shared responsibility. We must all work towards reducing our carbon footprint and creating a greener and more sustainable environment," said Nema.

Manish Desai, the LMAI Conference chairman and managing director at Mudrika Labels, said that consumers are taking actions to improve circularity where labels and packaging become central. According to Desai, a research study revealed that 25% of consumers made purchases based on the environmental friendliness of packaging, while 23% actively searched for environmental information on product labels.

“Converters' challenges include digitalisation, automation, quality control, and manpower. We are sure that the speakers at the Conference will provide solutions to these challenges in their presentations,” said Desai.
