ITC bags 14 awards at SIES SoP Star Awards for Excellence in Packaging

The show witnessed 90 awardees across 31 categories for excellence in packaging. An additional perk to the winners, they qualify to enter the Worldstar 2024 Awards organised by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO).

ITC bags 14 awards followed by UFlex with nine and Tata with six awards

The sixth edition of SIES SoP Star Awards 2022 took place on 25 February, 2023 at Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswati Vidyapuram, Nerul. The event was graced by the presence of Padma Vibhushan, K Kasturirangan- former chairman of ISRO and parliament (Rajya Sabha). 

This national award with global recognition for excellence in packaging has been endorsed by the Worldstar Global Packaging Awards. 

This edition recorded more than 120 entries across all the categories. Under the packaging domain, the edition witnessed versatile profiles like beverage, eCommerce, food, pharmaceutical, health and personal care, pet food, labelling and decoration, transit and industrial, packaging machineries and components, not to mention the student performance awards.

The jury consisted of experts like Swapan Kumar Ray, secretary, Indian Center for Plastics in Environment; Venu Ayyar, vice president, Shree Ganesh Graphics; Mukund Bhave, consultant, packaging development and project management; and Sethunath Padmanabhan, managing director, R3 Flexo India. 

The jury also had Nitin Virkar, co-founder, Therefore Design; and Prasad Balan Iyer, director, SIES School of Packaging. Apart from the jury’s evaluation, the president of SIES SoP, V Shankar awarded five outstanding packaging in combinations of design, aesthetics, innovation and sustainability.

Prasad Balan Iyer, director, SIES SoP said, “It is an honour to welcome the alumni who now play a vital role in the industry. I would like to extend an invitation to visit the packaging facility, which is one of the advanced facilities in the country.” Iyer said that SIES SoP will have a new dedicated space for packaging innovations and education of the students.
