The 5th International Summit for Packaging Industry (ISPI - 2025) organised by the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) is due to take place at Eros Hotel, Nehru Place, New Delhi from 5-8 March 2025.
The theme of the event, the 5S of packaging—safe, secure, standardised, smart, and sustainable—is highly relevant in the current scenario, where packaging is expected to protect not only the product but also the environment and the health of the consumer. A galaxy of speakers from India and overseas will deliver presentations on various topics.
“The three days ISPI - 2025 is a platform for sharing technical knowledge, discussing the latest trends and technologies, and networking with peers and experts from India and overseas,” said RK Mishra, director, IIP. “I am confident that this International summit will serve as a valuable resource for the participants and the packaging industry in guiding their future endeavours.”
The summit will also host the IIP Packathon – Packaging Innovations. At the packathon, a packaging startup that has developed an edible material that presents nutritional values and meets zero-waste objectives for instant food products that are easy to use and consume will be showcased. Another startup has created a one-of-a-kind packaging solution that organically distributes packages in up to 180 days. With the best research, multiple sustainable packaging solutions are now available for the industry.
The industry startups are researching current packaging trends like bio-based, edible, smart, and connect packaging.
“The main focus of this summit is to showcase innovations in packaging materials, technologies, techniques, and machineries. An array of eminent speakers will be sharing their knowledge through their presentations. It provides an interactive platform among industry experts,” shared Sunil Jain, chairman of IIP.
The summit also proposes to organise a research conclave as a parallel session concurrently. The main objective of the research conclave is to encourage the young students from the universities who are involved in packaging research. In addition, the scientists who have developed the innovative packaging materials and systems through packaging systems will be invited to make their research paper presentation during the research conclave. The research conclave would enable the young scientists from India as well as overseas universities to make research paper presentations.
