Ink fraternity gathers at the 70th AGM of AIPIMA

The 70th AGM of All India Printing Ink Manufacturers Association (AIPIMA) was held on 11 August 2023 at Mirage Hotel in Mumbai. The highlights other than the tech-talk was the Asia Coat + Ink Show discount period extended.

In his welcome address, MP Raghav Rao, managing director of Fujifilm Sericol, expressed his gratitude to the members for reposing their faith in him by electing him as president for the year 2023-2024 and extending their cooperation to him.

Rao announced the names of the new team of 21, and invited them to assemble at the dais for a group photograph. Amid loud cheers members of the new team were introduced and felicitated by the outgoing office bearers and senior former presidents.

The new team includes MP Raghav Rao, managing director of Fujifilm Sericol as president; Shehkar Iyer, managing director of Techno Print as vice-president; Ravindra Gandhi, managing director of Bombay Wellprint as secretary; and Manoj Biyani, managing director of Rang Rasayan as treasurer.

Saket Kanoria, managing director, TCPL set the tone in his formal address. He said, “Collaboration emerges as a powerful weapon against the challenges that lie ahead. And, as stakeholders in both the ink and packaging sector, we must foster a spirit of unity and cooperation. In addition, internal communication also plays a crucial role in the ink business.”

The growing demand for next-generation printing inks for packaging has influenced the growth of the next- generation printing ink market. It is expected to grow at a CAGR of 8.24% for the 2021 to 2028. With governments pushing for companies to adopt sustainable ink products, it has led to a positive growth of the next-generation printing ink market.

Rajesh Srivastava, vice-president, UFlex said, “In the print industry, there is no one-size-fit-for-all approach towards sustainability.” He said, there are three approaches to this aspect. “Source reduction, substitution, and biodegradable.”

ABC Chemicals, Hitech and Shree Shyam Global presented their journey in the ink industry.

AIPIMA’s next event is the 13th edition of Asia Coat + Ink Show, which is scheduled from 21 to 23 November 2024 at hall-3 of NESCO Bombay Exhibition Centre. With 15 months to go, more than 60% space has been booked.

Shekhar Iyer, chairman of Asia Coat + Ink Show, had announced an early bird discount of 30% valid up to June 2023. However, the time to avail this offer has been extended till the end of August. Dhananjay Sathaye, the managing director of United Ink Group rendered the concluding speech in his inimitable style.
