IIP hosts awards ceremony
With record entries and global accolades, the event highlighted advancements in eco-friendly design, digital technologies, and machinery, aligning with national missions like Make in India and sustainable growth.

The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), autonomous and apex body working under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, for the promotion of packaging standards, hosted the Indiastar and Pacmachine 2024 awards ceremony on 10th January, 2025 at Mumbai. The ceremony recognises innovation and technological advancement in India’s packaging sector and was attended by over 450 industry professionals, winners, and stakeholders. Raimati Ghiuria, acclaimed as India’s ‘Millet Queen’, was the chief guest for the event.
Ghiuria underscored the link between agricultural sustainability and packaging progress. She emphasised the critical role of packaging in addressing global demands for safe food, pharmaceuticals, and sustainable solutions. She noted that India’s packaging industry is rapidly evolving into a global hub, driven by next-gen digital technologies and innovation. Highlighting the significance of the event, she said, "It is noteworthy that, Indiastar and Pacmachine contest to recognize excellence in packaging innovation and design is an excellent initiative to encourage the Indian packaging industry to develop high standard package design at an international level."
Sunil Jain, IIP chairman, described the event as a milestone in India’s packaging journey, stating it reinforces the industry’s global footprint. He congratulated winners and participants, expressing confidence that the programme will spur further innovation across sectors.
RK Mishra, IIP director, linked the awards to national initiatives like Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat, stressing their role in promoting indigenous, cost-effective, and eco-friendly packaging solutions. He said, "This initiative was introduced by the Institute with the objective of inspiring the package designs with indigenous technology and user industry to innovate customer friendly, cost effective, convenience and environmentally with high functional property package design for the acceptance of the modern consumer.”
Shekhar Amberkar, IIP’s assistant director and event coordinator, announced that Indiastar 2024 winners secured India’s top global position in nominations for Worldstar 2025 and highest Asian accolades at Asiastar 2024. He noted, "The programme received 473 entries, a record of nominations. The quality of the nominations & selection parameters makes this contest much more trustworthy, valuable and even more competitive as well. I feel extremely proud to share that, Indiastar 2024 winners have made India to reach to first position across the Globe in maximum nominations for Worldstar 2025 as well as first position across Asia in winning maximum awards for Asiastar 2024."
Over 58 years, IIP has positioned itself as a key authority in packaging science, supporting industry needs through training, research, and global collaboration. Indiastar is one of India’s premier platforms for packaging excellence, while Pacmachine, introduced in 1992, focuses on machinery innovation for import substitution and export growth.
