As per media reports, “the incident” occurred on 1 January 2023 around 11 am in the morning  when a boiler bursted and triggered a fire in Jindal Polyfilms. The factory is located in Mundhegaon which is 30 kms from Nashik City. 

“A blast led to the fire. A woman died in the incident. Fourteen people have been injured and admitted to hospitals. The condition of four of the injured people is serious," divisional revenue commissioner Radhakrishna Game told reporters.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced a high level probe into the fire that broke at Jindal Polyfilm. The government will pay Rs five lakh each to relatives of the deceased and bear expenses of the treatment to the injured. Shinde, who was accompanied by the Nashik district guardian minister Dadaji Bhuse, visited the factory and the injured in the hospital.

Jindal Polyfilms is in the process of ascertaining actual loss caused by the accident. At 1400 hours on 2 January, the company's stock on BSE was trading 4.2% lower at Rs 763. Adequate insurance coverage for the said plant and intimation to insurance company has already been made, said Jindal Poly Films.
