FAPGA president Mehta highlights growth in Asia at Drupa

Manoj Mehta, whose presidency began two years ago in 2022 during FAPGA’s 21st edition - Awesome Asia which comprises 16 member countries which includes Pakistan, the latest addition to the list of member countries, addressed a gathering of dignitaries at Drupa.

Mehta said, “For me, the world is a playground and if you have the will, there is always a way. A belief that I have extended by creating border-free opportunities and encouraging professional, technological, educational and business growth with a host of activities.”

Mehta said, Asia Pacific’s commercial printing market was valued at a colossal USD 184.6-bn in 2022. It is speculated to grow at a CAGR of 4.91% from 2023 to 2031 with a valuation of USD 282.6 billion during the forecast period. Mehta said, “In view of the growing opportunities in print business and extending required support to its member countries, Awesome Asia conducted Forums at Malaysia and Sri Lanka along with multiple webinars across Asia Pacific nations.”

He highlighted some of FAPGA activities on the HR front which included Gen-next and Millennium Z looking for careers in print. Mehta said, "FAPGA's HR section fosters match-making amongst talented professionals and print companies across Asia-Pacific regions. Fapga.org is thus serving the HR requirements of everyone under the banner. 

Mehta added, “Furthermore, technical assistance for machines as and when required by FAPGA member countries, were arranged for. We assisted students who aspired for training in FAPGA countries.” Also a WhatsApp group to exchange and discuss latest innovations, technologies on a regular basis was floated. The group has fostered exchange of reports on printing, packaging, paper, ink and other current topics.

During his final speech as president of FAPGA, Manoj Mehta shared some industry numbers with the delegates. He spoke about growth when he said, “The paper and paper board container and packaging market alone in the APAC region is poised to grow at a CAGR of 4.25% between 2022 and 2027. This growth is anticipated to yield an increase of ISD 20.77-bn in market size.”

Touching upon sustainability, Mehta said, “The APAC eco-friendly packaging market is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 12.1% between 2024 and 2030, reaching a value of USD 124.36-bn by 2030.”
