BHS Corrugated India has announced plans for a new corrugating rolls manufacturing factory in Pune. Ajay Bhardwaj, sales manager (India) for BHS Corrugated India said, "We are very excited about the launch of our state-of-the-art corrugating rolls manufacturing factory in Pune. This move reflects our commitment to the Indian market and will help us deliver superior products and services locally."

By manufacturing corrugating rolls in India, BHS can ensure faster delivery, reduce lead times, and better meet its customers' needs. Bhardwaj said, "Also, it contributes to the local economy by creating jobs and driving growth in the manufacturing sector."

Regarding the Eco Line, Bhardwaj said, "The Eco Line is designed for manufacturers operating in challenging production environments with a monthly output of 2,500 to 3,000 tons." The BHS team said, this line is ideal for companies looking to invest in emerging markets or those needing high-quality packaging solutions - and meets the growing demand for corrugated board.

Bhardwaj added, "This reliability is crucial for companies in emerging markets where production infrastructure may be less developed, allowing them to meet market demands effectively."

Later, speaking about the Steady S Line, Bhardwaj said, "The Steady S Line is designed for customers who deal with short order lengths and frequent format changes." The line maintains consistent speed and quality during these changes, making the line easy to operate. The Steady S Line delivers high-quality corrugated board while ensuring smooth transitions between formats, which is ideal for operations that require flexibility and efficiency with moderate output quantities.

Bhardwaj added the Steady S Line offers advantages for companies with frequent format changes. One of its standout features is the ability to maintain consistent speed and quality during transitions. This means that manufacturers can quickly switch between different orders without sacrificing productivity or board quality."

The design of the Steady S Line ensures smooth operation, making it an ideal solution for businesses with shorter order cycles. One of the highlights of the Steady S Line is it simplifies operations by offering an intuitive and user-friendly interface, enabling quick format changes with minimal manual adjustments.

The corrugating industry in India faces several challenges, such as poor board quality, high glue consumption, increased production waste, currency fluctuations, shipping costs, and difficulties in installation due to travel restrictions. Bhardwaj said, to address these issues, "We have introduced the single facer SF-I, which caters to local market needs with its robust design and user-friendly operation. The machine is designed with a width of 1800mm and a speed of 150 meters per minute, providing significant returns on investment."

The key features of the SF-I include user-friendly operation, significant savings in electricity and glue consumption, comprehensive after-sales support, and seamless integration into existing production lines, even those from other manufacturers.

BHS also offers a Nice Cassette, which provides corrugating rolls on a pay-per-use basis. This cassette system helps reduce setup times and increases productivity while minimizing costs.

Ajay Bhardwaj said, "Today, BHS Corrugated offers a wide range of products and services. Our comprehensive solutions, ranging from individual machines to complete plant setups, enable us to be a reliable partner for our customers. We tailor our offerings to meet each client's specific needs, providing end-to-end support, including installation, commissioning, training, and after-sales service. This customer-centric approach fosters long-term relationships and mutual growth with our partners."

The Indian corrugation industry - A few takeaways

The Indian corrugation industry is growing rapidly, driven by urbanisation, rising incomes, and a booming eCommerce sector. There’s immense potential for further development, particularly in areas such as technological advancements, sustainability, and value-added services. Adopting automation, robotics, and digital printing can greatly improve efficiency while offering eco-friendly, sustainable solutions will become increasingly important.

Today, there is growing awareness around paper sustainability in India, but more efforts are needed. Key initiatives should focus on promoting recycling, supporting sustainable forestry practices, developing innovative packaging that minimises waste, and educating consumers about the importance of sustainable products. These efforts will not only benefit the environment but also enhance the competitiveness of the Indian corrugation industry.
