The 2024 edition of Anuga FoodTec India marks an expansion, with the exhibition space increased by 30% and the participation of over 700 companies from more than 30 countries. This international representation is highlighted by dedicated pavilions from Brazil and Taiwan, emphasising the global importance of technological advancements in the industry.

Key areas at the event include intralogistics and material handling, digitalisation and automation. Exhibitors are showcasing products such as conveyor systems and robotics. Brands like Tetrapack and UFlex are among those presenting their latest innovations, underscoring the event's role as a hub for technological progress in food and beverage processing and packaging.

SM:
While India hosts over 37 regional and segment-specific events for the food and beverage (F&B) industry, Anuga FoodTec India, co-located with Anuga Select India, stands out as a comprehensive platform. With over 1,000 exhibitors showcasing 7,000 products across categories like F&B finished products, food processing machinery, packaging machinery, intralogistics and material handling, and automation and robotics, it sets itself apart. Building on the century-long legacy of the Anuga brand, the show attracts participation from 50 countries.

AA: How are you rustling pre-show noise?
SM:
We are generating significant pre-show excitement through a series of community-building engagement programs:

Webinars: Highlighting India as a leading hub for the food and beverage industry and focusing on market entry strategies for international companies.
PackChat podcast series: Discussing packaging innovations and technological developments in the F&B industry.
Newsletters and digital marketing initiatives: These efforts keep the community informed and engaged, driving interest and awareness about the show.

These activities have attracted over 12,000 F&B professionals from leading manufacturing companies worldwide, who have already registered for the upcoming edition of Anuga FoodTec India. This approach ensures pre-show engagement and creates a buzz around the event.

AA: Anything at the show about secondary/tertiary packaging and processing firms?
SM:
Anuga FoodTec India places emphasis on packaging materials, including secondary and tertiary packaging solutions. Exhibitors such as Shako Flexipack, Brispac, Swiss Pac, and FPT will be showcasing their range of products in this segment. Visitors can explore innovative packaging solutions tailored to enhance efficiency and sustainability in the food and beverage industry.

AA: How was the response last year?
SM:
The 2023 edition was a mega success, attracting over 43,000 trade visitors from 52 countries and featuring over 700 exhibitors. The event's defining feature was its international presence, with representatives from countries including the UAE, UK, USA, Philippines, Russia, and Saudi Arabia, highlighting its role in fostering global partnerships within the food industry.

Compared to the 2022 edition, the event saw a remarkable 15% growth, driven by new categories such as safety and analytics, digitalisation, automation, software, AIDC and IoT solutions, and cold chain services. Notable trends included sustainable packaging and automation in food processing. Additionally, the event welcomed over 85 new exhibitors showcasing a wide range of innovative products.

AA: What is the conversation you are hearing from the boutique brands?
SM:
The past two editions of the event have seen significant participation from boutique brands. The legacy of the Anuga brand has not only attracted international participation, but has also drawn attention from leading domestic brands such as Adani Wilmar, Happilo, Tata Consumer Products, MDH, Goldee Masala, Paras Dairy, Ananda Dairy, Gopal Snacks, Tajir, Delacta, and Cloud 9 Beverages among others.

Conversations with boutique brands reveal a strong focus on innovation and niche market strategies. These smaller brands are leveraging the platform to showcase unique products and build brand recognition. They are particularly interested in sustainable packaging, local sourcing, and digitalisation trends to enhance their competitive edge.

AA: What are the trends you are seeing among the start-ups?
SM:
The startup pavilion showcases several key trends, including a strong emphasis on sustainability with eco-friendly packaging and sourcing practices. Digitalisation and automation are prominent, with startups leveraging IoT, AI, and blockchain for supply chain optimisation. Health and wellness-focused products, personalised food and beverage options, and d2c models are also trending. Additionally, startups are exploring innovative ingredients like plant-based proteins and alternative sweeteners, reflecting their role in shaping the future of the food and beverage industry.
