Safpack launches BioSafe compostable laminates
Safepack displayed its entire product portfolio at the Interpack 2023 and launched its BioSafe sustainable laminate range. Anand Tapadia, director, Safepack Industries talks about the products

Abhay Avadhani (AA): How was Interpack 2023 for you?
Anand Tapadia (AT): The seven-day event was successful for us.
AA: What did you showcase at the show?
AT: At Interpack, we displayed our entire range - VCI, paper, film and foil-based laminates, Creppes, insulation/roofing liners and introduced our latest range – BioSafe – for sustainable compostable laminates.
AA: Any product launch?
AT: Yes, we showcased BioSafe - for 100% sustainable compostable laminates.
AA: What market does your product cater to?
AT: We have supplies in all corners of the world for various industries such as metal, auto, defense, food, pharma, insulation and engineering. We mainly cater to B2B businesses.
AA: What kind of manufacturing compliance does your company follow in India?
AT: Safepack products are designed and manufactured in the environment of ISO 9001 system with high standards of performance. They are robust and suitable for manual as well as automated packing machines.
We continuously review relevant global regulations for compliance. The products are tested for various national and international standards such as MIL PRF, DEF, BFSV, ROHS, REACH and TRGS, and are acceptable in countries across the globe from USA to Japan.
The development team also works with the customer to meet their individual company quality and security requirements.
AA: Organisations plan for the year 2023?
AT: We plan to expand our global footprint currently from 40 countries, to 50 countries.
AA: Any message for the industry?
AT: It's time for the Indian packaging industry to shine and we must make the best out of it.

Safepack compostable VCI film and compostable laminates.
Our sustainable journey started a decade ago by winning a World Star 2013 Award for our bio-polymer coated cupstock. Safepack was also the first Indian company to receive the prestigious WPO President’s Award 2022 for the innovative sustainable product development.
This sustainable range is EN 13432 compliant and RoHS certified. It can be used in food grade applications and has properties like; grease and waterproof, heat sealable, and can be run on existing FFS machines. It also provides optimum barrier protection
Its applications include: Disposable paper cups, paper cartons, trays, lids, and tea, pharma, food and industrial packaging.
Safepack’s super calendered coated paper and boards improve the mechanical properties of PLA films, enabling to expand the application areas with industrial compostability as ideal end-of-life option and also available in metallised variant. Other Safepack Bio-safe options available are eco aqueous coating and the PLA coated range.
