ProductWatch: Smipack’s XP650 ALX shrink wrapper

Established in 1997, Smipack is the company of the SMI Group specialised in the manufacturing and marketing of bottling plants and packaging machines.

In the Indian market, Smipack has joined hands with Robopac, which is an end-of-line packaging solutions provider, and Chennai-based Durapak, also a packaging machinery and equipment supplier.

Speaking on the XP650 ALX shrink wrapper, Barai says, “The XP series is versatile and caters to varied applications comprising glass and PET bottles, cans, boxes, trays, jars, and more. And, this machine offers multiple packaging formats, including film, pad and film, or tray and film configurations.”

The XP650 ALX wrapper has a production capacity of up to 25 packs per minute. The high speed process streamlines the workflow plus enhances cost-effectiveness and resource efficiency.

When asked what its USP is, Barai says, “The standout feature of the XP650 ALX is its utilisation of a single film reel compared to the dealing bar system.” The target market of XP650 ALX is beverage, printing, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and logistics industries.

The key features of the XP650 ALX include automatic overlap shrink wrapper with an in-line infeed conveyor, automatic pack collation; hot melt glue application system for secure packaging and double-chamber tunnel for efficient shrink wrapping.

Furthermore, the shrink wrapper offers various modes of operation including automatic, semi-automatic, and pass-through modes. Compliant with CE-regulations, it has a FLXMOD control system equipped with a 7-inch full-colour touch-screen display and PLC for intuitive operation and control. And, the sliding protection doors with a deceleration device ensures safety and efficiency.
