A leading ice cream cone manufacturer was facing challenges with their adhesive supplier. The adhesive was unable to withstand the extreme temperature fluctuations during the manufacturing and storage process, resulting in wrapper delamination and product spoilage.

The ice cream manufacturer required an adhesive that could withstand high temperatures of up to 120°C (49°C) during the wrapping process, maintain its bonding strength when stored in freezers at temperatures as low as -20°F (-29°C) and provide a strong and durable bond to prevent wrapper delamination.

This is where Superbond Adhesive's technical team stepped in. The team worked closely with the manufacturer to develop a customised adhesive solution that met their specific requirements. This led to “reduced delamination, increased efficiency and improved customer satisfaction”.

During a demo at the PrintPack show, the WhatPackaging? Team saw that Superbond’s adhesives are compatible with various packaging materials including paper, films, and bio-degradable and recyclable materials. It can customise adhesives for specific applications and performance requirements with quick turnaround times. It can also perform under deep freeze, humid, hot and dry conditions, and its shelf life is between three to 24 months.

“Superbond also offers adhesives with unique features such as peelable bonds, tamper evidence and resealability to meet customer requirements,” said Priyank Agarwal, director at Superbond Adhesives. The adhesives can be applied using hot melt, water-based, and rubber-based methods suitable for machines like spray, roller coating, slot die, and open tanks as well as manual and automatic applications.

Today, Superbond offers food-grade adhesives that comply with food packaging regulations like 21 CFR 175.105. The adhesives are generally free from common allergens, using synthetic or plant-origin materials, apart from jelly glue, which contains partial animal-origin content.

The company provides training for operators or staff to optimise the use of their adhesives. The R&D team can collaborate with customers to develop adhesives for innovative packaging designs, offering tailored solutions. Superbond’s water-based adhesives are eco-friendly, non-toxic, and easy to clean. They are suitable for various applications, including paper, textiles, and woodworking.

Superbond has a distribution network across India and supplies to over 40 countries worldwide. It also offers inventory management support, including consignment stock and vendor-managed inventory, to help customers optimise their supply chain.

Superbond Adhesive has been manufacturing since 1974, complying with ISO 9001, ISO 14000 and ISO 18000 certifications. It also offers eco-friendly and sustainable solutions including water-based and hot-melt adhesives.
