The KM800H-MR industrial inkjet printhead is manufactured in Japan and was launched in December 2024. It is applicable for products such as corrugated cording, packages, pharmaceuticals and medical supplies. It caters more specifically to non-flat items.

The distinguishing factor in the KM800 series is its long throw distance technology, which means that the printheads can retain their printing quality even if the gap between the printheads and the object is larger than usual. In ordinary circumstances, the throw distance is between 1-3 mm. The KM800 series works even if the object is placed at a distance of about 20 mm.

The inkjet printhead uses piezoelectric inkjet technology. Delineating the sluggish adoption of inkjet technology in India, Iwato said, “In comparison to continuous inkjet or thermal inkjet, piezo technology is still inconspicuous. However, certain market reports show that printers with piezo inkjet technology have been increasing in India since the market recognizes the advantages of piezo inkjet printing- such as long distance for printing on curved, rough or fluffy surfaces. The value for 2D code applications is readable only with high resolution, for which piezo is suitable.”

The piezo inkjet technology is also called ‘on-demand printing technology’ and the printhead releases ink only at the volume that is required and timings required. This saves customers and printers from wasting ink and energy.

The KM800H-MR has a heater and UV inks available. Other models in the series are compatible with water, solvent-based, oils and UV for lower-viscosity inks. The printing speed of the product is affected by resolution, drop volumes, inks and other such conditions.  The USP of the model is its long throw distance technology, and that the printhead can be placed vertically whilst simultaneously maintaining its print quality.

To clean the product, one must use a wipe to blot the nozzles and remove the dirt. Customer support is offered for matters related to material compatibility, waveform, evaluation and installation.
